Today, we want to introduce you to Maribel S. She is a graduate from U.S. Colleges, the Montclair campus and she made her dream job come to fruition, just like you can. Below, we will tell you a bit about Maribel and her journey here at U.S. Colleges. Maribel’s Story
Hi, my name is Maribel and I always had and still have a first and primary job and that is being a mother to my beautiful children. I found myself working at a job on the night shift two years ago. The job was demanding and required me to work the night shift 4 days a week for 10 or more hours a day. Not only was is tiring, it was taking away time from my children.
Quality time spent with my children was not happening and this brought me down. I decided now was the time to get back into school and better myself. I wanted better for my children, but, more importantly, for myself too.
I reached out to U.S. Colleges and learned about the different programs offered and my options. I was interested in phlebotomy and decided to enroll in the phlebotomy technician certificate program.
As I started my journey, I learned a lot in the program. I learned how to draw blood correctly and found the course to be very hands-on, which helped me develop my skills and knowledge in the field. I started to feel confident.
Towards the end of the program, I was sent out on an externship and was in a local lab nearby. Here, I was able to continue practicing blood draws and learn everything I could about the setting. I found that what my instructors taught me was very useful and I used and recalled information daily throughout the externship.
Today, I am a confident and skilled phlebotomist and I owe it all to the training and staff at U.S. Colleges. They helped me succeed and pass my state tests. I love where I work, and I enjoy helping patients and caring for them day in and out.
Oh, and don’t let me forget to mention, I can now spend more time with the children, which is awesome. Thank you, U.S. Colleges Montclair Team, – you rock!
Phlebotomy Technician Training at U.S. Colleges

Our Phlebotomy Training Course consists of 78 hours of lecture/lab and 40 hours at an externship site. You will receive the hands-on experience, training, and skills you need to be successful in your role outside of the program.
